Today (Friday July 29, 2022) is the official U.S. release date of “Chemical Compositions”! Thanks to the guys at Amplified Distribution for getting the CD out to many online stores, and thanks to all of you for spreading the word and to those who have purchased advanced & signed copies directly from this website. We’ll have studio & live videos from the album coming soon!
Let me tell you a bit about the record. It’s actually been finished for almost 2 years, but for obvious reasons in these trying times, it hasn’t been appropriate to release until now. Musically, I like to describe this record as “tri-fusion” – a combo of 3 styles: rock, jazz, and blues – more appropriately, loud rock, loud jazz, and loud blues.
The title is “Chemical Compositions”, which is a name that’s been on my list for at least 2 decades. In the literal sense, it’s of course a phrase that means the “make-up” or “components” of a substance, but in this case, it also has a musical meaning. What originally attracted me to it was the 2nd word “Compositions”, which to me can mean musical compositions. So I’ve “chemically enhanced” most of the song titles to relate to both words. And speaking of that other word, chemical – well, yes, it applies to music as well, as we use chemicals in our brain (such as dopamine) to create and enjoy music.
